Indications:
Inflammatory skin diseases associated with bacterial, fungal or mixed infection. Dermatitis secondarily infected by fungi or bacteria. Bacterial or fungal infections that have a marked inflammatory action. Wounds of all kinds. Burns.

Therapeutic Action:
Gentamicin: it is an aminoglycoside antibiotic with activity on sensitive strains of streptococci (group A beta-hemolytic, alpha-hemolytic), Staphylococcus aureus (coagulase-positive, coagulase-negative, and some penicillinase-producing strains), and on gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Aerobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.

Betamethasone: it is a corticosteroid that when applied topically develops an anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, antipruritic and vasoconstrictor action. Its topical mechanism of action is not well known. There is evidence that suggests a correlation between its vasoconstrictive potency and its therapeutic efficacy in humans.

Miconazole: it is a synthetic imidazole derivative that is active on most pathogenic fungi and yeasts, as well as on some gram-positive cocci and bacilli. The activity is based on the inhibition of ergosterol synthesis in the cell membrane of the pathogenic microorganism. This results in the accumulation of precursors by interfering with the synthesis of triglycerides and fatty acids, and in an inhibitory effect on oxidative and perioxidative enzymes. Accumulation of ergosterol precursors and toxic peroxides results in cytolysis.

The clinical efficacy of miconazole has been demonstrated on: dermatophytes, Tricophitum sp. And Microsporum sp, Candida sp, Aspergillus sp, dimorphic fungi, Cryptococcus neoformans, Pityrosporum sp and Torulopsis glabrata, as well as on certain gram positive bacteria such as Erysipelothrix insidiosa, Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphilococcus aureus.

Benzocaine: eliminates pain and itching, an essential condition for rapid healing, also avoiding self-mutilation by scratching the patient.

Centella Asiatica: Healing, antiseptic, phlebotonic, vasoprotective, astringent and antipruritic. Regarding the healing action, it has been shown that it stimulates cell mitosis and favors the biosynthesis of collagen at the level of connective tissue, a key protein in wound healing. It has been proven that in the wounds treated with Centella asiatica there is an increase in the overall content of DNA, proteins and collagen in the granulation tissue, an increase in the rate of epithelialization and an increase in the levels of fibronectin, a glycoprotein with functions of intercellular adhesive. It also inhibits the inflammatory process that could lead to hypertrophy in scars. Regarding venotonic action, studies have been carried out that confirm it both in experimental animals and in humans.

Aloe Vera: Healing: increases the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans constituents of the scar matrix that is formed in the phases prior to the formation of granulation tissue in the wound. It also has immunostimulating, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and moisturizing activity.

Dosage and Administration:
Apply a thin layer of Dermagen to completely cover the affected area two or three times a day, or as directed by the Veterinarian. The frequency of application will be determined according to the severity of the condition. The duration of therapy should be determined by the patient’s response. Cleaning of the area to be treated must be done previously.

Species:
Equines, canines and felines.
